VFXRendering publishes guides on render farms, cloud GPU rendering and VFX pipelines. This page explains where our numbers come from, how we keep them current and how we handle corrections.
Prices, hardware, supported software and policies come from each vendor’s own published pages: pricing pages, FAQs and documentation. Software requirements come from the software maker’s documentation, such as Maxon, SideFX, Chaos, OTOY, Blender and NVIDIA. Benchmark figures come from public measurement sources and are named as such.
Each post lists its sources with the date they were read, because prices and versions change. When a vendor page cannot be loaded, we do not give a number for it and say that the figure was not verified. Posts are revised when a vendor changes a price, a plan or a supported version.
We state each farm’s model (upload-and-render service or remote machine), billing unit and published strengths and limits, using its own wording where it matters. A lower rate per unit is not treated as a lower cost, because farms define their units differently. Where we compare cost, we show the formula and mark worked examples as illustrations.
A post that reports our own measurements describes the scene, settings and hardware used. A post that does not describe them relies on the published sources listed at the end, and example figures in it are labeled as illustrative.
Technical claims, version numbers and prices are checked against the sources before a post goes live, and a second review pass looks at the finished text for unsupported statements.
If a figure or statement is wrong, leave a comment on the post and we will check it against the source and update the post. Corrections to prices and versions are made in place, and the source date is updated.
